We are pleased to announce the opening of the Slynn Fellowship 2025 during a recent visit to Lusaka, Zambia.
Following on from the success of the 2024 programme, we have been able to offer two young Research Advocates (RAs) the opportunity to spend time in London working with Judicial Assistants at the Royal Courts of Justice thanks to the generous support of our sponsor the Anglo American Foundation and completion of a rigorous selection process by our judicial colleagues in Zambia.

We received a very warm welcome from the Hon. Lady Justice Yangailo, Director of Judicial Training and a judge at the new Economic and Financial Crimes court and the Hon. Mr Justice Chenda, a High Court judge of the Commercial Division who has been instrumental in developing this programme.

This year we were able to extend the programme to include a visit to the Zambian Institute of Advanced Legal Education (ZIALE) which has grown from its original 90 students to over 700, and an induction day at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre for 40 new and current Research Advocates from the judiciary and Law Development Commission. This unique one-day event for the RAs included presentations by our Slynn trustee the Rt. Hon. Sir David Bean, his Hon. Justice Chenda and our two fellowship winners from 2024, Charmaine Chibangalula, and Rita Maxwell on good practise in judgment writing. Representing Slynn Executive Director Katherine Eden Haig gave the opening remarks and received a warm and welcoming response from her Ladyship judge Yangailo noting Slynn's continued contribution and support of the rule of law.
We look forward to greeting our fellows during their stay in London and I am sure they will find it a rewarding experience.
